My name is Heidi Voll your Northlake Hills PTA President. We thought it might be best to put information together for you in one packet. Our goal is to use our PTA web site NLHPTA as much as possible to keep you better informed and reduce the paper load.

This packet contains the Volunteer Survey, please take a few minutes and fill it out. It lets us know where your interests are and the best way to contact you. You will also find your membership envelope, “Become Part of the Magic” join PTA. Membership dues are only $7.50 each and every member of your family can join. Our goal is to reach 100% membership by the Fall Festival on Oct. 21, 2010. We may have a special surprise if we do! While supplies last when you become a PTA member you will receive a discount coupon to either LEGOLand or Aquarium of the Pacific.

We know that you think we are constantly fundraising. But to be honest in the past we have only done one main fundraiser a year; our food products from Pacific Sales. Based on the past results we feel that we will have to do two fundraisers this year to continue to offer Assemblies, Field Trips, Outstanding Eagle, Gifts to the School, Reflections, Red Ribbon Week, Little Red School House, Donuts for Dads, etc. Other events such as the Father/Daughter Dance, Yearbook, Spirit Wear pay for themselves. The first fundraiser will kick off on Aug. 18th; Pacific Sales. The second fundraiser Charleston Wrap with Mixed Bags will kick off Oct. 12th with delivery in time for the winter holidays. I think you will find both of them to have quality products. You also have the option to make a flat donation and not purchase any products. 100% of flat donations go to the PTA.

Again this year we will be hosting a Jog-a-thon in the spring to raise money for the installation of SMART Boards in our classrooms. We now have a total of 10 SMART Boards installed. The more corporate donations we receive the less we depend on our families.

Then we have programs like recycling, box tops, coke rewards and Screaming Coupons and Gift Cards to name a few where we earn money from you using everyday products.

Saturday November 5th 2011 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM we will have another Goodwill Donation truck at the school. We also plan to be able to start collecting your donations sometime in August. So stay tuned for more information.

Again, we thank you for the wonderful response to this Goodwill truck donation fund raising event.

Acceptable Goodwill Donations

Brief Overview

• All students will walk, jog or run for 30 minutes with their grade at an assigned time
• Kids collect sponsor pledges
• Parents are encouraged to walk, jog or run the track with their favorite Northlake student
• 100% of the proceeds will be used to provide SMART Board Technology in the classrooms

In addition to running with each grade level, if we get pledges of $10,000 by the turn in date of Monday, April 25th, 2011 Mr. Brauneisen will wear a very special outfit to run in… That is only $16.00 per student.

Corporate sponsors and local businesses

The recent State of California budget cuts and educational crisis has greatly impacted our teachers and classroom sizes. The PTA has been purchasing “SMART Boards” over the last two years through our Scholastic Book Fairs. SMART boards provide teachers with new technology through the use of a interactive white board to reach every student in the classroom, including Early Language Learners (ELL) students, and enhance the learning experience for all students in our school. The mission over the next three years is to partner with corporate sponsors and local businesses that are willing to help us subsidize a portion of the SMART board installation costs through a charitable event.

It’s estimated that the installation and equipment will cost us over $150,000.00. With school budget crisis we can’t depend on Federal, State or district funds to be there to help with this project. Therefore we are reaching ou to you to assist us with our SMART Board campaign.

On May 3rd, 2011 Northlake Hills will be holding a Jog-A-Thon 4 Technology event. Though the main purpose of this event is to raise money for the installation of SMART Board, it will also encourage our students to participate in a healthier lifestyle. In our continuing battle with childhood obesity we used our on going Marathon Club as the inspiration for the choice of a Jog-A-Thon; working the mind and the body together.

We are offering Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Level advertising sponsorships for the Jog-A-Thon 4 Technology event:

• Platinum $2500 Front of T-shirt
• Gold $1500 Sleeve Cap
• Silver $1000 Business Card Size
• Bronze $500 Name listed

Sponsors’ logos will be displayed on a t-shirt that all 700 students and staff will be receiving for the event (and will continue to wear in our community). there are other sponsorship opportunities that may better suit your community contribution budget.

A Thank You Banner with your name will be displayed throughout the school year; $250-$499 Logo on banner under $250.00 Name listed.

This is a great opportunity for you to do your spring cleaning, donate to a great cause, and it is also an effortless fundraiser event for Northlake Hills Elementary. If we can fill the entire trailer we have the potential to make $1500.00 for our school.

Goodwill Acceptable Donations

Lisa can take donations at her house as long as you contact her first. Email us to get her phone number via our Contact form

If you are planning to drop off your items early with Lisa and would like a donation receipt Tamara from Goodwill will mail you a receipt. When you drop off to Lisa please provide her with your name, address and phone number.

We will also be accepting donations at the school all week starting Monday, but bulk items need to contact Lisa directly.

This Friday the Parent Surveys that are on golden rod legal sized paper are due. If you need another survey there are more in the school office. During this week our PTA will be sending home information for our very first Jog 4 Technology Jog-A-Thon. 100% of the proceeds will stay at our school and will be used to install interactive Smart Boards in our classrooms. Lastly, we have noticed a sudden increase in tardies the past month. Please try your best to get your children to school on time. Remember morning supervision starts at 7:30 am.

It is that time of year when Northlake Hills gives back to our own community. Together with the Castaic Lions Club our volunteers will help deliver the food we collect. We are asking that you please consider donating to the program and have your child bring in one item to their classroom per the following list:
